Having your honey rub your back is sweet, but it’s tough to compete with the hands of a pro. A good massage therapist can make you feel like a new person. And now research suggests massage can ease insomnia, boost immunity, prevent PMS, and more. Maybe that’s why hospitals are making it a standard therapy -- Mehmet C. Teri Steger, CMT, MMT.
I have been practicing Massage Therapy since 1994. I worked full time and went to school at night. I received my professional Clinical Massage Therapy certification in 1996, and earned my professional Master of Massage Therapy certificate a year and a half later after completing my internship training in the Chiropractic office of the school founder of Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences. I am recognized as a certified Medical Massage Therapist, Board Certified Diplomate through the American Medical Massage Association as of October, 1999. I am also a registered practicing member in good standing with the International Massage Association.
I have experience teaching massage therapy, was an instructor at the academy, ran a student clinic open to the public for students to acquire contact hours. Also, I taught Tai Chi for a time, and was given a Red Sash. This Sash was an honor given from my teacher. I assisted in facilitating weekend massage therapy training/retreats, and much fun had by all. I have also taught couples massage therapy classes so that people can help each other between professional visits.
Another thing I am proud of is working with massage therapy on canines who have had some form of trauma and also post surgery. Massage proved to be most effective as a healing treatment for pain release for the animals.
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, massage and the healing arts are great passions of mine, and I feel so fortunate to be able to earn a living doing what I love for work. I have worked in a lot of different places, and have been so blessed with valuable training and influences in the healing arts, and managed to have a lot of fun on this journey so far.
And the journey continues………………..
